Georgia Sends Ambulance Cars to North Ossetia

Georgian Prime Minister Zurab Zhvania told reporters on September 3 that Georgia has already dispatched five ambulance crews and cars to Russia’s North Ossetian city of Beslan, where Russian troops stormed the school where hundreds of people were held hostage since September 1.

“We were shocked to learn the latest developments in North Ossetia. We have even ceased the cabinet session. Georgia is ready to assist Russia with everything we can. We have already sent there [North Ossetia] ambulance cars,” Prime Minister Zurab Zhvania told reporters in Batumi, where the Georgian cabinet was holding session.

Earlier today President Saakashvili also condemned the hostage-taking in Beslan, calling the incident “a tragedy.”
