Moscow Furious over Non-Stop Rally outside its Embassy in Tbilisi

In a statement issued on August 27 the Russian Foreign Ministry categorically demanded to stop ?noisy and provocative non-stop rally? outside the Russian embassy in Tbilisi, which has been continuing more than a week.

A protest rally, which is organized by a group of Georgian computer programmers, demands withdrawal of the Russian troops from Georgia. Protesters use laptops and loudspeakers to project anti-war and anti-Russian slogans on the walls of the embassy and transmit music during the nights.

?There is no doubt that this cheap stage-show is backed by the Georgian authorities,? the Russian Foreign Ministry?s statement reads.

Moscow also accused Tbilisi of ?violating Vienna convention, which obliges the host-country to secure normal functioning of the foreign embassies.?

?A protest march is also planned outside the Russian embassy on August 27. Hence, the embassy takes a day-off today and stops issuing of visas,? the Russian Foreign Ministry statement says.

The Russian embassy has already delivered a note of protest to the Georgian authorities regarding the ongoing rally; however there was no reply from the Georgian government so far.

The organizers of the rally announced on August 26, that they will suspend protest rally on August 27 temporarily.
