EU Concerned over South Ossetia Crisis

EU High Representative for Common Foreign and Security Policy Javier Solana expressed concern over the recent developments in Georgia?s breakaway South Ossetia.
 
As the news release issued by the European Union on July 9 reads, Solana and the EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus Heikki Talvite have been in close contact with the Georgian authorities.
 
Following a conversation with Georgian Prime Minister Zurab Zhvania on July 8, Solana asked EU Special Representative Heikki Talvitie to go to Tbilisi for contacts with the authorities as well as with the OSCE.
 
HR Solana recalls the importance the EU attaches to the territorial integrity of Georgia, as well as the EU?s commitment to Georgia?s stability, the news release reads.
