Georgian Reports: One Dies in South Ossetia Clash
One Georgian officer died and two others were injured as a result of a shooting that occurred in the South Ossetian conflict zone on September 8, Georgian official sources say.
The administration of the Georgian State Minister for Conflict Resolution Issues said that according to very preliminary information the Georgian law enforcers came under fire while chasing a group of smugglers between the villages of Khetaburovo and Nikozi to the south-east of the breakaway region?s capital Tskhinvali.
No other details are yet known about the incident. South Ossetian officials and the command of the Joint Peacekeeping Forces in the conflict zone have yet to comment.
