Abkhazia Plans Large-Scale Maneuvers

Abkhaz troops will be holding large-scale military exercises on September 24-27, Apsnipress news agency reported on September 5, quoting the breakaway region?s chief of staff of the army Anatoly Zaitsev.

3 000 servicemen, including reserve troops, will be involved in the maneuvers.

Gari Kupalba, the unrecognized republic?s Deputy Defense Minister, said shooting training will be carried out in Abkhaz-administered lower Kodori Gorge as part of the maneuvers, according to Apsnipress.
