Georgian, EU Diplomats Discuss Conflicts
Georgian Deputy Foreign Ministers Valery Chechelashvili and Giorgi Manjgaladze met with diplomats from the EU member states accredited in Georgia on August 25 and discussed issues related with the Abkhaz and South Ossetian conflicts.
The Georgian officials briefed EU diplomats about the ongoing rehabilitation process in upper Kodori Gorge in breakaway Abkhazia, the Georgian Foreign Ministry reported.
The Georgian side underlined the necessity to speed up implementation of Tbilisi’s peace initiatives for the South Ossetian conflict, which were welcomed by the OSCE Ministerial Council in Ljubljana last December.
“At the meeting the sides focused on the possibilities of increasing the European Union’s role in the resolution of the conflicts,” according to the Georgian Foreign Ministry.
