President Speaks of Abkhazia while Boasting of Adjara Success

While addressing a crowd in Batumi in the Adjara Autonomous Republic on August 23, President Saakashvili said that his dream is to create a new infrastructure and rebuild Abkhazia, like he did in Adjara.

?My life will have no reason if we fail to create the Garden of Eden similar to the one in Batumi in our Ochamchire, in our Sokhumi, in our Gagra, in our Bichvinta [Pitsunda ? towns in breakaway Abkhazia]? because this is all one and all these should be as beautiful as [Batumi],? Saakashvili said in a speech at the opening ceremony of a new park in Batumi.

The Georgian leader is makes regular references to the breakaway regions during speeches for new facilities that are opening throughout Georgia. Speaking at a similar ceremony several months ago in the town of Gori, near breakaway South Ossetia, Saakashvili said that residents of the unrecognized republic should see how Gori has turned into a beautiful town under the new administration.
