‘Don’t Scare Investors’ – Saakashvili Tells Opposition
Speculation about possible unrests scares investors, President Saakashvili said on April 11, in an apparent response to statements voiced by the nine-party opposition bloc, which warned about people’s rebellion in case the May 21 parliamentary elections were rigged.
“Each Georgian family has lost at least GEL 300 as a result of [November] unrests last year. Although no one will be able to stir troubles, but even talks about unrests is harmful for the country, because such talks scare investors, who invest money to create jobs… Everyone can of course campaign [ahead of parliamentary elections], but don’t scare anyone,” Saakashvili told reporters in Zestaponi, town in western Georgia.
