NATO Fails to Agree on Georgia MAP – Reports
Leaders of NATO member-states failed to agree on giving Georgia and Ukraine Membership Action Plans at a summit in Bucharest on Wednesday, western agencies reported.
The Associated Press quoted a NATO spokesman as saying that he did not expect Georgia and Ukraine to be invited to join MAP at the Bucharest summit.
“Germany’s position didn’t change,” Reuters quoted an unnamed NATO diplomat after NATO leaders discussed the issue at an official dinner late on April 2.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel said upon her arrival in Bucharest on April 2 that it was too early to give Georgia and Ukraine MAP.
