Senior MP: Georgia should not Recognize Kosovo
Georgia should not recognize the independence of Kosovo, regardless of what other states do, Kote Gabashvili, a lawmaker from the ruling party and chairman of the parliamentary committee for foreign relations, told Civil.Ge.
“We will have a restrained position and we should rule out any recognition of Kosovo,” Gabashvili said on February 18. “We should work intensively to prevent Kosovo becoming a precedent for Georgia.”
He said a meeting between the Georgian and Russian presidents planned for February 21 in Moscow would be crucial in this respect. “This meeting will be followed by either positive or negative developments. It is very hard to say anything more at this stage,” MP Gabashvili added.
