‘Complaints should be Addressed’ – Burjanadze
Nino Burjanadze, the acting president, said on January 11 that all alleged violations of election procedures should be addressed by the courts and the election administrations.
“I call on the election administrations and the courts to deal with all the complaints filed [in connection with the election process]. These complaints should be considered objectively and an appropriate ruling should be issued. There should be a response to each complaint,” Burjanadze told journalists.
The acting president’s remarks follow protests by the opposition and a local election observer organization, Georgian Young Lawyers’ Association (GYLA), who have claimed that their complaints were ignored by the District Election Commissions without even considering them.
