Voting Starts in Abkhazia for Russian Elections
Russian passport holders in three districts of breakaway Abkhazia were able to cast their ballots in Russia?s parliamentary elections on November 28, the Abkhaz news agency, Apsnipress, reported.
Polling day in Russia itself is December 2; however, polling stations were opened in Gali, Tkvarcheli and Gulripshi districts of Abkhazia on November 28. They will be open in Ochamchire district on November 29; in Gudauta, and in villages around Sokhumi and Gagra ? on November 30 and on December 2 in the towns of Sokhumi and Gagra, according to Apsnipress.
Three hundred voters in Gali, which is a predominately ethnic Georgian populated district, and over 1,600 voters in Tkvarcheli district cast their ballots on November 28, according to Abkhaz sources.
