Senior MP: Patarkatsishvili has Political Ambitions
Business tycoon Badri Patarkatsishvili?s decision to address the protest rally shows his desire to come into power, Maia Nadiradze, the parliamentary majority leader, said on November 2.
?It is obvious that he [Patarkatsishvili] is already a political figure, who states that the government should be changed, which in turn means that he wants to come into power,? she told reporters. ?We can only welcome his decision to come out and publicly announce about his political ambitions and [his decision] to stop acting from the backstage.?
Patarkatsishvili, who has recently pledged to finance the opposition?s drive to convince the authorities on holding parliamentary elections in April, instead of 2008, told tens of thousands of protesters outside the Parliament on November 2: ?I have no ambition of having any official position; the only ambition I have is to be an ordinary citizen of Georgia who will be able to build united and prosperous Georgia.?
