ARTI Group Resumes Operations

ARTI Group, a distributor company for Procter&Gamble, Gillette, Wella and other companies, has resumed operations, firm?s top executive said October 26.

Last month, the Revenue Service launched a tax audit of ARTI Group, which resulted in the company ceasing operations. ARTI Group is owned by businessman Kibar Khalvashi, a close friend of the former defense minister, Irakli Okruashvili. The whereabouts of Khalvashi, whom prosecutors want to interview, is unknown.

ARTI Group executives have claimed that despite the fact that no financial irregularities have been uncovered, the company has been prevented from resuming normal business, which has resulted into finances loss, worth of about GEL 500,000.

?We started operations from today, but we expect to resume full-scale operations from Monday when we start delivering products to the network nationwide,? Martins Vecvanags, the director general of ARTI Group, said.

Problems with ARTI Group has immediately triggered price hike on products distributed by the company. Vecvanags, however, said prices will go back to its original level as soon as the company launches its full-scale operations.
