State Minister Visits Moscow
Georgian State Minister for Conflict Resolution Issues Merab Antadze held talks with Russian officials in Moscow. The Abkhaz and South Ossetian conflicts were the focus of the discussions.
Antadze, who started his Moscow visit on July 8, met Yuri Popov, chief Russian negotiator on South Ossetia, and Vladislav Chernov, who is in charge of Abkhaz issues at the Russian Foreign Ministry.
During the talks Antadze raised the issue of ?the inactivity of the Russian peacekeepers, which amounts to a crime.? in both the Abkhaz and South Ossetian conflict zones, the Office of the State Minister said in a press release on July 10.
It also said that Antadze had reiterated the Georgian side?s readiness to host a session of the quadripartite Joint Control Commission (JCC) for South Ossetia in Tbilisi.
The South Ossetian secessionist authorities have refused to travel to Tbilisi, citing security concerns.
