Russia, Georgia WTO Talks
A group of Russian negotiators is expected to arrive in Tbilisi on May 30 to hold talks over Russia?s accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO).
Georgian Economy Minister Giorgi Arveladze said on May 17 that as a precondition for Georgia?s support for Russian WTO accession, Tbilisi demanded that Moscow stamp out smuggling and legalize trade at the two border crossing points between Russia and the breakaway regions of Abkhazia and South Ossetia.
Prime Minister Zurab Nogaideli reiterated the same position on May 29.
