Georgia to Receive More Shah-Deniz Gas

The chief executive of the state-run Georgian Oil and Gas Corporation (GOGC), Alexander Khetaguri, said on April 16 that as a result of an agreement with the Shah-Deniz consortium, Georgia would receive four million cubic meters of natural gas per day, instead of one million as envisaged in the previous agreement.

This amount is enough to supply the entire country with natural gas.

The need for additional Shah-Deniz gas emerged after Russia decided to suspend natural gas supplies to Georgia for two days, citing the necessity of repair work on the North-South gas pipeline.
