Tbilisi Condemns Shelling in South Ossetian Conflict Zone
The April 11 attack on the Georgian village of Kurta in the South Ossetian conflict zone is another attempt to escalate tension in the region and is directed against the peace process, a statement issued by the Office of the Georgian State Minister for Conflict Resolution Issues on April 12 reads.
According to the statement, shells were fired from the Ossetian village of Monastery. The Georgian side did not respond.
Officials in Tbilisi have said that a local school building and nearby houses were damaged.
?The incident,” according to the ministry statement, “has once again revealed the urgent necessity to fully demilitarize the region and cleanse it of illegal armed forces.?
