At least One Dies in Gali Blast
Two people died and at least five were injured as a result of explosion in the Georgian-populated Gali District of the breakaway Abkhazia on March 18.
But Abkhaz news agency Apsnipress reported that one Abkhaz border guard officer died and several others were injured because of ?a careless handling of a weapon.?
The Georgian sources said the explosion occurred in the building housing Abkhaz border guard officers in the village of Nabakevi and it was a result of disagreement between the Abkhaz militias and Abkhaz border guard officers.
But Ruslan Kishmaria, the Abkhaz leader?s envoy in the Gali District, told the Tbilisi-based Imedi TV that ?it was an accidental explosion of a hand-grenade,? which has nothing to do with disagreement between the Abkhaz officers.
