PM Speaks of Negotiations with Turkmen Officials

Prime Minister Zurab Nogaideli told a government session on March 27 that he had discussed the possible transportation of Turkmenistan?s hydrocarbons to the West via Azerbaijan and Georgia, during his visit to Ashgabat last week.

?The South Caucasus transit corridor would not only be the shortest, but also the most effective and cheapest route from Central Asia to Europe,? MP Nogaideli said.

He also said that Kazakhstan could be an important part of this project.

Kazakh Prime Minister Karim Massimov is due to visit Georgia on April 4 to discuss economic cooperation, Georgian Foreign Minister Gela Bezhuashvili said on March 27.
