Saakashvili Comments on Secessionist Conflicts

President Saakashvili said on January 24 that the Georgian authorities are ready for a ?constructive dialogue? and the peaceful resolution of conflicts in breakaway Abkhazia and South Ossetia.

?Georgia supports a peaceful, constructive process. However, our country will never yield to the situation when the people are deprived of their rights to return home and live in a safe environment. We will struggle for this right to the end and nobody will be able to doubt Georgia?s territorial integrity,? Saakashvili said.

He also said that the current status quo in the conflict zones is inadmissible, adding that efficient international tools are needed in order to make a breakthrough in the peace process.

Saakashvili was speaking with reporters in the Chokhatauri district of western Georgian region of Guria, where he inaugurated a newly-built school. On the previous day he was visiting the mountainous districts of the Adjara Autonomous Republic, and he will be inaugurating a new hotel in Signagi, eastern Georgian region of Kakheti, on January 25.
