Chief of National Guard Appointed

Colonel Nikoloz Janjgava has been appointed Commander of the Georgian National Guard, the Georgian Defense Ministry reported on January 18.

Before the new appointment Nikoloz Janjgava served as the Commander of the 4th Infantry Brigade of Land Forces.

Former chief of the National Guard Akaki Bobokhidze was re-appointed as the governor of the Imereti region in western Georgia.

Bobokhidze has already served as Governor of Imereti, but resigned four months after his appointment in December 2005 after he was involved in a fist-fighting scandal with journalist Irakli Imnaishvili.
