JCC to Gather in Tskhinvali

An informal meeting of the negotiators over South Ossetia in the frames of the quadripartite Joint Control Commission (JCC) is planned in the breakaway region?s capital Tskhinvali on December 27.

At the meeting Merab Antadze, the Georgian State Minister for Conflict Resolution Issues, is expected to voice the Georgian side?s discontent towards the existing quadripartite negotiating format, which involves negotiators from the Georgian, South Ossetian, Russian and Russia?s North Ossetian sides.

A meeting of the JCC was held in Vladikavkaz, North Ossetia in October, but the session was fruitless. The Vladikavkaz session was the third time in a row that the JCC-meeting failed to reach any results.

The Russian and South Ossetian sides are accusing Tbilisi of deliberately impeding the JCC negotiating process.
