Gazprom Wants Georgia to Decide about Russian Gas
Russian gas monopoly Gazprom has requested that the Georgian side to provide information about amount of gas it plans to buy from Russia in 2007, RIA Novosti reported on December 20.
Gazprom spokesman Sergey Kuprianov said the price per 1000 cubic meters for Georgia will be USD 235. Earlier Gazprom demanded USD 230 for the same amount.
The Georgian authorities are expected to identify the amount of gas the country will need to import from Russia after a final agreement is reached on the redistribution of gas shares from Azerbaijan’s Shah-Deniz field.
Georgian Prime Minister Zurab Nogaideli said on December 13 that Georgia will ?decrease dependence [on Russian gas imports] to 20%, or maybe to 0%? in 2007.
