Saakashvili Visits Turkey
President Saakashvili will pay an official visit to Turkey on December 19-21 to hold talks with his Turkish counterpart Ahmed Nejet Sezer, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and other officials, the Georgian President?s press office reported.
On December 20 President Saakashvili will meet with Turkish businessmen and also participate in the opening ceremony of a new Georgian Embassy in Turkey.
Turkish media sources reported earlier that a preferential trade agreement will also be signed during the Georgian President?s visit.
Reportedly, energy issues will top the agenda of negotiations between the Georgian and Turkish sides. Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey are currently in talks over the redistribution of gas quotas from Azerbaijan?s Shah-Deniz field.
