South Ossetia Tightens Security as Polls Loom

Interior Ministry troops of breakaway South Ossetia have tightened security on the eve of the November 12 independence referendum and presidential elections in the unrecognized republic.


?The state and strategic facilities will be guarded and, starting from tomorrow, we will begin to guard the polling stations as well? Tight security measures will last until November 13,? the South Ossetian Press and Information Committee quoted breakaway region?s Interior Minister Mikhail Mindzaev.
