Georgian PM Slams Peacekeepers

Georgian Prime Minister Zurab Nogaideli said on July 17 that the government expects the Parliament will pass ?a radical? resolution on Russian peacekeepers stationed in the Abkhaz conflict zone.

?Neither in Tskhinvali [breakaway South Ossetia], nor in Abkhazia Russian peacekeepers are fulfilling their mandate and moreover there are no indications that they are going to fulfill it. So we are waiting for the Parliament?s radical decision about these issues,? PM Nogaideli told reporters.

Parliament is expected to consider a resolution on peacekeepers at its session on July 18. Although the resolution will instruct the government to secure withdrawal of peacekeepers, the document reportedly will not set a timeframe to the executive authorities to implement this demand.
