Paper: Soldiers Die in Maneuvers

The Georgian weekly Kviris Palitra reported on July 10 that three soldiers died during the ongoing large-scale military exercises in Orpolo firing range.

The Ministry of Defense (MoD) Declined to comment on the report. ?We do not comment on this issue,? Nana Intskirveli, MoD spokesperson, told Civil Georgia.

According to the Kviris Palitra one soldier drowned while crossing the river, another died with a bullet wound and the third one died as a result of an accident in a battle tank.

About 8 000 Georgian servicemen are involved in the large-scale exercises Caucasus-2006, which were launched on May 28 and will last till July 15.
