OSCE Funds Border Police Capacity Building Project

The OSCE Permanent Council approved on June 29 the Capacity-Building Programme for the Georgian Border Police in order to support in the strengthening of their border management capabilities.


OSCE has allocated EUR 1,9 million to implement the programme in next six months. Total duration of the programme is one year.


?Training of trainers, retraining system management and enhancement of aviation rescue operations are the major components of the program,? Eka Gigauri, deputy chief of the border police, told Civil Georgia on July 1.


The OSCE has already carried out one-year Training Assistance Programme for the Georgian border guards in 2005-2006.
