Launch of Putin-Saakashvili Talks Falls Behind Schedule
Georgian media sources reported that the meeting between the Georgian and Russian Presidents was delayed ?because of the tight schedule? of the Russian leader Vladimir Putin.
Talks were initially scheduled in St. Petersburg for 8 pm local time. Reports also say that the meeting is now expected to launch roughly at 10 pm. President Putin is in St. Petersburg to host the international business forum.
Tbilisi-based Rustavi 2 television reported that the talks between Putin and Saakashvili will also be attended by the Georgian and Russian Foreign Ministers.
President Saakashvili arrived in St. Petersburg on the evening on June 13. Saakashvili was met at the airport by St. Petersburg city municipality officials.
The secessionist conflicts in Georgia will most likely top the agenda of the negotiations.
