Saakashvili Visits Russia for Talks with Putin

Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili will leave for St. Petersburg on Tuesday to hold talks with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin later on June 13. The meeting is planned to start at 8 pm local time.

The secessionist conflicts will top the agenda of these negotiations, according to the Georgian Foreign Ministry.

?Our task is to normalize our relationship with Russia. But this cannot happen at the expense of our national interests. There are several issues where compromise is impossible. Georgia?s territorial integrity and Georgia?s European orientation are among such issues,? influential MP from the ruling National Movement party Giga Bokeria told reporters.
