Secessionist Leaders Comment on Putin-Saakashvili Talks
Speaking at a joint news conference on June 6 in Tskhinvali the Abkhaz and South Ossetian leaders, Sergey Bagapsh and Eduard Kokoity, respectively, said that the upcoming talks between the Russian and Georgian Presidents should not be overestimated.
?This is a normal, political process… It seems that there are some economic issues which Georgia needs to negotiate with Russia ? about wine, mineral waters, etc. This is a normal, working meeting and we do not expect anything extraordinary from this meeting,? Abkhaz leader Sergey Bagapsh, who paid a visit to breakaway South Ossetia, said, according to the South Ossetian Press and Information Committee.
?Some should not look at this meeting through a prism of Russo-South Ossetian, Russo-Abkhazian relations. There are many problems between Russia and Georgia. We would be very happy if Russia and Georgia could find a common language… We support peace in the Caucasus,? South Ossetian leader Eduard Kokoity said.
