Burjanadze Calls for Restraint Ahead of Putin-Saakashvili Talks
Parliamentary Chairperson Nino Burjanadze said on June 5 that the Georgian Parliament ?will refrain? from making any decisions about the Russian peacekeepers stationed in the South Ossetian conflict zone ahead of talks between the Georgian and Russian leaders, scheduled for June 13.
?I offer you to only hold hearings about the peace process, because, naturally, if we start talking about the peacekeepers, an assessment [of their performance] will be very harsh and I really do not wish to have disputes over the Russian-Georgian relationship in the Georgian Parliament several days before talks [between the two Presidents],? Burjanadze said while speaking at a session of the parliamentary bureau.
?The most important thing is to have concrete results from these talks,? the Parliamentary Chairperson added.
