Georgian PM Speaks of CIS Reforms
Georgian Prime Minister Zurab Nogaideli said in Astana on June 2 that Kazakhstan’s chairmanship in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) might create an “impulse for serious reforms” within the organization.
Speaking at a news conference after talks with Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev, PM Nogaideli said that the Georgian government is still considering whether to quit the CIS or not.
“I think that Kazakhstan’s and President Nazarbayev’s chairmanship this year might create an impulse for serious reforms in this organization. It is possible to transform the CIS into an effective organization, where member states will be able to discuss their problems,” RIA Novosti news agency quoted PM Nogaideli as saying.
