Georgian Vice-Premier Visits Tajikistan for CIS Meeting

Georgian Vice-Premier Giorgi Baramidze, who also is State Minister for European Integration Issues, left for Dushanbe, Tajikistan, to participate in a meeting of the Heads of Governments from the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) on May 25.

This will be the first top level meeting within frames of the Commonwealth of Independent States since President Saakashvili said on May 2 that Georgia may quit the organization.

Currently, a special commission led by Georgian Prime Minister Zurab Nogaideli is studying the expedience of Georgia’s presence in the Commonwealth, as well as the possible consequences of Georgia’s withdrawing from the organization.
