National Security Council Chief Says Ombudsman is “Stupid”

Secretary of the Georgian National Security Council Kote Kemularia said Public Defender Sozar Subari “is stupid” and acts like a prosecutor through voicing “accusations.”

Kote Kemularia, who served as the Justice Minister from February, 2005 to December 2005, was one of the targets of criticism voiced by Public Defender Sozar Subari during a session of the Parliamentary Committee on Human Rights on May 19.

Sozar Subari said that Kemularia should be held responsible for a prison riot which occurred in the western Georgian town of Kutaisi in December, 2005 and for the financial irregularities and corruption which was widespread in the prison system.

“His place is in the Prosecutor’s Office rather then in the Ombudsmen’s [Office]. He is stupid, and voices stupid accusations,” Kemularia told Rustavi 2 TV via phone on May 20.
