OSCE Committed to Contribute to S.Ossetia Rehabilitation Projects
Visiting OSCE Secretary General Marc Perrin de Brichambaut said on May 15 that the OSCE is committed to rendering aid to rehabilitate the South Ossetian conflict zone, the OSCE Tbilisi office reported.
The OSCE Secretary General, who arrived in Tbilisi on May 14 for a two day visit, has already met with State Minister for Conflict Resolution Issues Giorgi Khaindrava and will meet with President Saakashvili, Prime Minister Nogaideli and with other Georgian officials.
Marc Perrin de Brichambaut said that the OSCE is preparing for a donors’ meeting for rehabilitation projects in the South Ossetian conflict zone.
“We are working hard to create conditions for a successful meeting in Brussels, to be hosted by the OSCE Chairman-in-Office,” Ambassador Brichambaut said.
“Donor countries will be asked to pledge 10 million Euros, now that the parties to the conflict have agreed, for the package of economic and infrastructure rehabilitation projects which were proposed in the OSCE-led Needs Assessment Study,” he added.
