Georgia to Participate in Top Level CIS Meeting in Dushanbe

Georgian Vice-Premier Giorgi Baramidze, who also is State Minister for European Integration Issues, will participate in a meeting of the Heads of Governments from the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) in Dushanbe, Tajikistan on May 27, the State Minister’s press office told Civil Georgia on May 13.

This will be the first top level meeting within the frames of the Commonwealth of Independent States since President Saakashvili said on May 2 that Georgia may quit the CIS.

Currently, a special commission led by Georgian Prime Minister Zurab Nogaideli is studying the expedience of Georgia’s presence in the Commonwealth, as well as the possible consequences of Georgia withdrawing from the organization.
