State Minister: Georgia will Most Likely Quit CIS
Georgian State Minister for Euro-Atlantic Integration Issues Giorgi Baramidze said on May 8 that Georgia will most likely withdraw from the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), Itar-Tass news agency reported.
Baramidze was speaking in Tallinn after talks with Estonian officials there.
President Saakashvili instructed the government on May 2 to estimate the possible consequences of Georgia’s withdrawal from the CIS.
The parliamentary opposition said on May 8 that it will temporarily cease an ongoing boycott of the parliamentary sessions if the issue of withdrawing from the CIS is discussed in the Parliament.
