Saakashvili Claims 12% Economic Growth
Speaking at a ceremony of the launch of construction of a new airport in Batumi on May 6 President Mikheil Saakashvili said that Georgia has achieved “significant economic growth” in a short period of time.
“Georgia is developing much more dynamically than I ever imagined. Georgia’s economic growth in the first three months [of 2006] exceeded 12% and probably 13%. This is the highest figure in the world and in the region,” Saakashvili said.
