NATO PA Delegation Visits South Ossetia
A delegation of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, led by President Pierre Lellouche, held talks with South Ossetian leader Eduard Kokoity in Tskhinvali on May 5, the South Ossetian Press and Information Committee (PIC) reported.
According to the South Ossetian Press and Information Committee, Eduard Kokoity briefed the NATO delegation over the current situation in the breakaway region, as well as on the ongoing negotiations on settlement of the conflict.
The South Ossetian side again criticized the activities of the OSCE observers in the South Ossetian conflict zone as biased, according to the PIC.
“The meeting was necessary and important. In any case, the parliamentarians [from NATO] received complete information about our vision regarding further relations between South Ossetia and Georgia,” South Ossetian Foreign Minister Murat Jioev, who also attended the talks, told reporters.
On May 6, the NATO PA delegation plans to visit breakaway Abkhazia to hold talks with Abkhaz officials there.
