Constitutional Court Launches Consideration of Ex-MP’s Case
The Georgian Constitutional Court ruled that the case filed by former parliamentarian from the opposition Republican Party Valery Gelashvili against the Parliament’s decision to strip him of his MP credentials is admissible.
The parliamentary majority stripped Valeri Gelashvili of his MP credentials on March 31 after accusing him of being involved in the management of his own business, an act which is prohibited for MPs by the Constitution.
MP Kakha Kukava of the opposition Conservative party, who represents Gelashvili’s interests at the Constitutional Court, told Civil Georgia on May 2 that the Constitutional Court will discuss Gelashvili’s lawsuit within a month.
