Georgian Journalists Detained in Minsk
The Belarus police arrested a correspondent of the Georgian Public Broadcaster Nino Giorgobiani and cameraman Giorgi Lagidze, when the latter were interviewing the opposition activists in Minsk on March 24.
General Director of Public Broadcaster Tamar Kintsurashvili has already expressed protest regarding this fact and requested the international society to help in releasing the journalists.
“We have no information about their current state. The only thing we know is that presently they stay in custody in Minsk,” Tamar Kintsurashvili said at a news briefing on March 24.
The Parliamentary Committee for Foreign Relations also condemned the arrest of two Georgian journalists in Minsk and demanded their immediate release.
The two Georgian journalists arrived in Minsk on the day of presidential elections on March 19.
