British, French, German, Russian, U.S. OSCE Envoys Meet Kokoity
British, U.S. Russian, French and German Ambassador in Georgia, as well as OSCE Head of Mission in Tbilisi Roy Reeve, met with breakaway South Ossetian leader Eduard Kokoity on March 16.
British Ambassador Donald MacLaren told reporters after talks that issues related with holding Joint Control Commission session, high-level talks between the sides, as well as demilitarization of the conflict zone were discussed and exchange of views over possible involvement of the U.S. and EU in the negotiating process also took place during the meeting, the Georgian media sources reported.
South Ossetian leader Eduard Kokoity reiterated that the conflict should be solved solely through peaceful means and said that the South Ossetian side.
He welcomed dialogue with the foreign ambassadors and noted that “Georgia has much more possibilities to make its voice heard for the international community, than South Ossetia,” the Press and Information Committee of the breakaway region reported.
