Russian Diplomat Responds to Georgian MFA’s Criticism
Mikhail Bocharnikov, the Russian Foreign Ministry’s special envoy in charge for the Abkhaz conflict issues, who visited Abkhaz capital, Sokhumi on March 15, said that publicly voicing criticism towards Russia is “extremely counterproductive.”
He commented on the Georgian Foreign Ministry’s statement, which said that “the Russian side did not provide new vision and elements of the conflict resolution… which leads us to think that the Russian leadership lacks the adequate political will for the regulation of conflict through constructive cooperation with Georgia.”
The statement was made after Mikhail Bocharnikov held talks with the Georgian Foreign Ministry officials in Tbilisi on March 14.
“Accusations voiced publicly are extremely counterproductive. The Georgian side would better refrain from making such statements… as they yield no results,” Apsnypress news agency quoted Bocharnikov as saying on March 15.
