President Offers to Lift State of Emergency in Adjara

President Saakashvili issued a decree on lifting the state of emergency in Khelvachauri district of Adjara Autonomous Republic, which was imposed on February 28 to prevent spread of bird flu.

Agriculture Minister Mikheil Svimonishvili said on March 8 that the there was no need in state of emergency any more as the government could contain spread of the virus.
 
The state of emergency will be lifted as soon as the Parliament approves President’s proposal.
