Georgia’s ‘New Group of Friends’ Meet in Tbilisi

Officials from the Foreign Ministries of an informal group known as the “New Friends of Georgia,” which unites Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Poland, Bulgaria and Romania met in Tbilisi on March 1.


Georgia’s integration into Euro-Atlantic structures, as well as conflict resolution issues and energy security were discussed during the meeting, the Georgian Foreign Ministry reported.


Georgia’s New Group of Friends was formed in 2004 to provide support and assistance to Georgia on its route towards integrating into the EU and NATO and to add a spark to the process of political, economic and administrational reforms in Georgia.
