Georgian MPs Visit to Moscow Postponed by Russia

A visit by a group of Georgian parliamentarians to Moscow, scheduled for February 26, was postponed until mid-March by request of the Russian side.

“The official explanation by the Russian side was that they want to organize high-level meetings in Moscow, including [meetings] with Chairman of the State Duma [Boris Gryzlov],” MP Davit Bakradze, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee for European Integration, told Rustavi 2 television on February 23.

Recently, Russia also postponed the visit of Georgian Prime Minister Zurab Nogaideli to Moscow, citing the need to “take a pause in the current tense situation” between the two countries.
