PM Says Georgia has ?Unprecedented? Support From US, EU
Georgian Prime Minister Zurab Nogaideli hailed the support by the U.S. and EU towards the settlement of the South Ossetian conflict as ?important? and said that Tbilisi is undertaking measures in accordance with its peace plan.
?It can be said that we have received unprecedented support from the U.S. administration and the European Union, which is very important for us and which points out the efficiency of our policy. We will continue to act in accordance with our peace plan, which was approved by the OSCE [in December 2005]. The measures which we plan to undertake [in an attempt to defuse tensions in the South Ossetian conflict zone] were envisaged by this plan, however we considered it expedient to implement these measures unilaterally,? Zurab Nogaideli said at the government?s session on February 22
These measures Tbilisi plans to undertake in an attempt to defuse tensions in the South Ossetian conflict zone were agreed upon during a meeting of the Georgian government?s coordination council on South Ossetian held on February 18.
