Georgian Defense Minister Visits Brussels
Georgian Defense Minister Irakli Okruashvili, who is currently paying an official visit to Brussels, held talks with the ambassadors of NATO member states and top officials from the alliance.
According to the Georgian Defense Ministry, meetings were held with NATO Assistant Secretary General for Defense Policy and Planning John Colston and NATO Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs and Security Policy Martin Erdmann. Okruashvili also held talks with NATO Secretary General’s Special Representative for the Caucasus and Central Asia Robert Simmons.
The issues of implementation of Georgia’s Individual Partnership Action Plan with NATO, as well as Georgia’s inclusion into the Membership Action Plan were discussed.
The sides also discussed the issues of the withdrawal of Russian military bases from Georgia and energy security.
